Use this information to educated people about vaccination.

1. Following points tell the importance of vaccination.
                                                1. Vaccination is the  most cost effective way of improving child health and child survival.

2. Vaccine is the best gift for children.

3. Government gives vaccines against 6 diseases free of cost.

4. Less than 50 % Indian children receive all these free vaccines.

5 Children dislike doctors as the give painful injections/ vaccines .

6. Educating everyone about vaccination alone will ensure that all children get all vaccines.

7. Following information will be useful to make our nation VACCI”NATION”.

1. Make date of birth the vaccination date.:

Reason: Baby’s date of birth is the most important date for the parents.
Make it monthly  vaccination date for their baby. They will never forget it.

Benefits: 1. Better compliance.

2. Our entire work divided over 30 days of the month. Where vaccination is done say twice a week, on those two days of vaccination the service suffers due to overwork, and on other days these is less work.
3. Good for growth monitoring and filling of growth chart. To ensure that children grow well their growth must be monitored. For this their weight, height head circumference should be measured and plotted. Doing this on date of birth makes the job easy.

2. Feed before vaccination:- Ask mother to breastfeed the baby before vaccination. To a bigger child give some snack. This increases pain threshold & reduces crying. Feed after vaccination:- This stops vaccination induced crying. It helps Post-vaccination monitoring for  reactions, if any. This also gives time for  discussing future vaccines.

.3. Give vaccine in thigh muscles. Buttocks have sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve can be injured by the injection needle .Do not give injections in buttocks to children.

4 .Baby in lap:  Good pace to give vaccine in thigh. For vaccination  babies have to be separated from the mother, and forced to lie down on the table. This makes them cry with fear. This anxiety of separation from parents is avoided if baby is kept in mother’s lap for giving vaccine in thigh.

5. Sleeping baby is the best baby for giving vaccine injection. This baby suffers and cries least.

6. Painless Injection.

Give injection after the spirit applied for disinfection dries off. Personal experience shows that the modern disposable needles are almost painless. The pain is caused by the spirit. Tell about vaccines till the spirit dries. And then give the vaccine

7.24 hours vaccination centre. We run emergency services round the clock to save babies having illnesses which could have been prevented by vaccination. We should give vaccines on war footing round the clock so that we have neither these illnesses, nor emergencies, nor child deaths. Where ever vaccines are given, they should be given at all the times when the facility is working .If a clinic works say 9 to 5  all vaccines should be given from 9 am to 5 pm on all days when clinic is open. Hospitals working round the clock should give vaccine on demand   round the clock.

8. Make your place a vaccine mall. Give all vaccines to all the kids all the times.

9. Display big vaccination chart in waiting room. Make it in language of the people. Make it in more than one language if needed. Census 2001 of India shows that English is language of  only 6 % people.

10   Print vaccination schedule on the backside of date of birth certificate.

Everyone has to get a birth certificate from the local municipal authority. That is the first point of contact   between parents and gram panchayat / municipality /government. This should be used to tell parents about vaccination.

11. Give a vaccination chart and explain it to every family while giving polio vaccine in the national pulse polio campaign.

11. Tell people to  Gift vaccines: Vaccine is the best gift to all relatives and their kids. Gift typhoid vaccine on second birthday. Instead of a few hundred Rs.,give Typhoid or HIB Instead of  a thousand Rs. Gift Hepatitis A or chicken pox vaccine.
 12. make Vaccine   Gift  coupons People can buy them from you and gift them to children.

13.Vaccinate every child on discharge from hospital Give age appropriate vaccines. MMR to a child above 15 months, typhoid to a child above 2 years.

13. Make Hindusthan Vaccinisthan.

      Make our nation “Vacci”nation

14. Use mythology to promote vaccination as follows.
Surya devta gave his son karna Kawach Kundal. Yhey protected Karna from deadly weapons.

Vaccine are modern Kawach Kundalas.Ask everyone to be parent to all Indian children and give vaccines the modern kawach kundals to all kids.
Squirrel  helped Lord Ram to make the bridge across sea.
Let us  help and seek everyone’s help to make India   Polio free,Typhoid free , Measles free,  Mumps free.
15 Health Education is the only vaccine that helps to avoid maximum illnesses. It also hastens recovery in all illnesses. In fact in U.K. U.S.A. when a pediatrician sees a doctor the first item on his treatment protocol is “What do I tell parents about this illness.” So they have standard parent education leaflets for all illnesses.

We must develop our own standard parent education leaflets  and make them in Hindi, Marathi Gujrathi etc.

In 1947 when India became Independent, average person lived 37 years. Today everyone lives 73 years. This Independent country has doubled our life. Half of our life, time breath, money belongs to our country. Let us spend it for our country and tell this to all. Let us promote vaccination and repay the debt.

Increasing vaccination and promoting vaccination is best service to the nation
AIM: 100% vaccination
ALL VACCINES TO ALL CHILDREN on war footing

W. H. O.& Indian Academy of pediatrics recommend that typhoid vaccine should be included in the national immunization schedule.

Let us Compliment  Delhi  & Goa state government for giving typhoid , m m r and hepatitis B vaccine free to all the children.
Let us make typhoid. M.M.R., Tetanus vaccination mandatory before school entry.
Dr.Sivaprakasham V. from Chidambaram   studied  about  12000 students of  11 th standard of  various schools. He observed that maximum absentism is schools was due to typhoid. This absentism made them back benchers, and affected their studies and led to academic failure. This is avoidable tragedy.
