IAP CONSTITUTION AMENDMENT

    Dear colleagues,

Here are some constitutional amendments to make IAP better.

These are based on following facts & problems. Men of science and logic will understand them. Problem:While telling a problem or a message from IAP, lay people, journalists, & even officials some times do not understand the name of our academy easily. It has to be explained,before telling the message. Our name is foreign, our official language is not understood by the masses. It is foreign.
To make an impact on the nation, we need to be people friendly...

Facts:

1. A study of census 2001 (available on net ) show that following percentage of people know following languages. {some may not believe this but it is so.Facts are often strangr than fiction}

Language approximate % Population knowing it. as per India’s census 2001

English 6%
Hindi 45%
Urdu 9%
Bangali 9%
Telugu 8.4%
Marathi 8.3%

2. English the Official language of IAP as per this census findings is understood only by 6 % population So IAP and its message is understood by 6 % Indians. It also means that IAP , its name and its message is not Understood by 94% of Indians. No wonder we cant make a dent in the health scene of the country. To improve the health of the children we need to do following. Majority people should at least understand the name of IAP. 3. a)Our country India that is Bharat has 2 names India & Bharat. b) Indian council of medical research is also named as BHARTIYA AYURVIDNYAN ANUSANDHAN PARISHAD (VISIT WEBSITE & CONFIRM) c)All India Institute of medical sciences is also known as AKIL BHARTIYA AYURVIDNYAN SANSTHAN .[VISIT WEBSITE & CONFIRM.] Lot of thinking by our wise fore fathers must have gone in giving 2 names to the country and these institutions. In the naming ceremony of a bay we give 5 names to the baby. Our gods like Vishnu have 1000 names. So our IAP which is God to us should have at least 2 names. Hence we propose that in India that is Bharat where even the country has 2 names, & Indian Academy of Paediatrics should also be named as BHARTIYA BAL AROGYA TADNYA SANSTHA. (had we dealt only with disease it could have been BAL ROG TADNYA SANSTHA. BUT WE DEAL WITH HEALTH OF THE CHILDREN. BHARTIYA BAL AROGYA TADNYA SANSTHA FOR EXAMPLE D.Ch.Pediatricians have a diploma in child health & disease.] Many more people across the country will understand this self explainatory name. 4 After 60 years of Independence and all that we do daily 20 000 children die every day. Most of those who survive grow stunted & malnourished & diseased with shortened efficiency and lifespan. Inadequate knowledge amongst masses about child health and disease & disease prevention is one of the reasons. To change this on a war footing,we must empower people with knowledge on childcare.For this, in all states all the knowledge and messages of IAP must go in the languages of those states. To facilitate this we propose following changes in constitution. All IAP branches in all states should have that state’s language as official language of the branch along with English. These branches should strive to make their state’s languages rich in the art &science of child care. These branches should strive to make an offical encyclopaedia on child health, to be updated annually.

LOGO: We have a nice logo. We should have 2 names & like wise we should have 2 logos. Lord Krishna ( child krishna) should be our second logo. Read accompanying Krishnakatha.If only one logo is needed,current logo with a flower[good or florists]should be replaced by child Krishna logo.
